VanEck and Bitwise Update Funding for Potential Spot Bitcoin ETFs
In recent filings, investment firms VanEck and Bitwise revealed updates regarding the initial funding for their prospective spot Bitcoin ETFs. VanEck has allocated $72.5 million to its potential ETF, as detailed in its amended S-1 form.
Meanwhile, Bitwise has committed $500,000 to its proposed ETF, also noted in its amended S-1 form. Additionally, Pantera Capital has expressed interest in investing $200 million in Bitwise's fund, subject to approval. This expression of interest, however, is not legally binding.
Another contender, BlackRock, has seeded its proposed spot Bitcoin ETF with $10 million, according to its recent filing.
These amended forms also shed light on the fee structures for these potential ETFs. Several providers are offering zero fees initially, with Bitwise setting the lowest fixed fee at 0.24%. Ark/21Shares follows closely with a 0.25% fee, and BlackRock's fee stands at 0.3%.
On a related note, VanEck announced on January 5 that it plans to donate 5% of potential profits from its spot Bitcoin ETF to Bitcoin core developers at Brink, in addition to a $10,000 initial contribution to support Brink's efforts.
