Hashdex, an asset manager vying to launch a spot Bitcoin ETF, predicts investors will gain US access to such products by Q2 2024 - with ethereum offerings following.

In its 2024 outlook, Hashdex said this year marked a definitive shift in spot bitcoin ETF narratives from questioning "if" to debating "when" approvals finally materialize. The firm is among over one dozen with bitcoin ETF applications pending before the SEC.

While analysts forecast strong January approval odds, Hashdex notes further administrative steps could still separate decisions from actual product launches. Firms also require separate registration approval introducing weeks-long gaps potentially.

Once live, Hashdex believes trusted legacy managers offering customers spot crypto exposure for the first time could unlock a $50 trillion market. The firm sees most interest converging on bitcoin and ethereum offerings given diverse recognition and incumbent dominance.

Bloomberg analysts also predict a spot ethereum ETF approval is "likely to follow" on the heels of the pioneering Bitcoin product as the crypto ecosystem's most mature assets take the lead in mass adoption.
