Digital bank Revolut plans to pause certain crypto services for UK business clients starting January 3rd, 2024. This move comes in response to incoming crypto promotion rules from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) taking effect January 8th.

While UK customers can still hold and sell crypto through Revolut, new purchases will be temporarily disabled. This allows Revolut to adapt its business crypto offering to comply fully with the FCA's updated "back end" direct financial promotion standards.

Many crypto companies have had to adjust services amidst regulatory shifts. Exchanges like Bybit and payments giant PayPal recently withdrew specific UK offerings after the FCA policy changes in October. Others like Luno have blocked UK user investments until alignments complete.

The Revolut suspension provides necessary time to integrate new governance while still serving existing UK crypto customers. It reflects prudent compliance efforts rather than restrictions on overall UK crypto activity. Ongoing cooperation between regulators and industry players will shape compliant innovation and accessibility going forward.
